TxDOT crews working around the clock to clear roadways
Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) maintenance crews continue to
work across the South Plains to remove ice, snow and snow drifts from
roadways.
Although roadways are open to traffic, motorists are being strongly
discouraged to travel on Garza County highways, including US 84 and US 380.
The I-27 flyover at South Loop 289 in Lubbock was closed to traffic earlier
today, but has been reopened.
Motorists are urged to stay home. Travel conditions today, into night and
tomorrow morning, are expected to be poor with low visibility, due to strong
winds blowing snow, and snow and ice on the roadways.
Motorists are also asked to slow down and take extra precaution around TxDOT
snow and ice removal equipment as crews work to clear roadways.
For more road conditions information, check the TxDOT website at
www.txdot.gov or call 800-452-9292. For New Mexico road conditions call
800-432-4269.
