City of Lubbock Street Department crews will continue to work through
the evening and overnight salting and monitoring Lubbock streets. With
overnight lows expected in the teens, the City of Lubbock Emergency
Management Office recommends only driving if necessary. If you must
drive, here are a few winter driving tips to keep you and your family
safe.
-Allow extra time to get where you’re going.
-Drive slowly and cautiously.
-Winter road conditions require longer stopping distances. Keep
additional room between you and other drivers.
-If you have anti-lock brakes, press the pedal down firmly and hold it.
If you do not have anti-lock brakes, gently pump the pedal. Either way,
give yourself plenty of room to stop.
-Avoid abrupt actions like suddenly braking, steering, or accelerating.
